War - The Centaur
This project has been revisited from an old broken wreck of a project. Since I started this project with a lot less knowledge than I have now, I took a lot of shortcuts to finish this.3D Construction
This model was recovered from an old project I completed within my studies. However the poly count was extremely high as it had planned to only be a sculpt to help me adjust to Zbrush at the time. A subdiv reconstruction was applied within Zbrush to the mesh which resulted in tri's in certain areas. This did not concern me however since I planned to pose and sculpt and no animation was included.This project was automatic mapped since no mapping was planned. This didn't prevent me from poly painting the texture within Zbrush, however, I did get exceedingly lucky with large sections of the chest and back being captured within single shells on the map allowing for some 2D adjustments within Photoshop.
This was my first attempt at Sub-Surface-Scattering and I didn't construct a vein map effectively but plan to approach this the next time I attempt something similar.
2D Compositing
I rendered all my projects in Mental Ray. The final glamour shot was compiled using Beauty, Ambient Occlusion and Camera Depth passes. Subtle touch-ups to the levels and slightly desaturated. All other shots are just raw Mental Ray renders or screenshots from Zbrush.Due to this experiece I now make UV maps for all my work regardless.
This project was completed in January '09.
